CJ Morrell

CJ holds the position of Managing Director and Head of Japan at Fiera Asia, where he is tasked with expanding the firm’s presence in Japan and strengthening existing relationships within the market.

CJ is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in the asset management industry, particularly focusing on Asia and the Emerging Markets, with a special emphasis on Japan. Before joining Fiera Asia, CJ served as a Partner at Sloane Robinson Asset Management, where he played a significant role in launching and managing emerging markets and frontier funds. Prior to that, he held the position of Managing Director at JP Morgan Asset Management, where he successfully managed a high performing long short fund. Additionally, he served as Managing Director at Merrill Lynch, overseeing emerging equity sales and sales trading. CJ’s extensive career also includes roles at James Capel, where he worked as Director for foreign equity sales in Tokyo, Japan, catering to Japanese institutional clients investing in Europe and Asia.

His educational background includes graduation from Westminster School with a Japanese Missionary Language Institute Diploma. CJ’s language proficiency is impressive, being fluent in Japanese and French, and conversational in Portuguese and Spanish.
